Afterglow Trail Run (Australia)

Afterglow Trail Runners

Sharon and Jamie, all smiles at the Afterglow 21km Trail Run.

One of the Tour De Trails (TDT) series of trail runs across picturesque Australia and now extending globally, the Afterglow was an after dark run along Victoria's Surf Coast. In keeping with the title, runners wore bright clothing and many carried colourful lights.

Unlike many running events Tour de Trails focuses on fun and feasting at the event, providing a package experience.

TDT: "We take you to exotic places across the globe to explore pristine wilderness running trails that will blow your mind as much as your legs.  You’ll encounter mountains and deserts, forests and fern gardens, big views and even bigger achievements.

You’ll be rewarded with fine food and drink, cultural interactions and, of course, great company with plenty of laughter!

Our global running tours are fully hosted and guided, small group (8-12), own-pace excursions. They are run holidays that focus on a welcoming, inclusive and immersive experience that unearths the heart of a place and its people through our uniquely-curated adventures."

Check out their event roster and links in their calendar.

Trekking the Himalayas (Nepal)

Himalayas hiker

Our leading News picture and this one are from Jeff who achieved a life goal of trekking in the Himalayas.

"I have just returned from 5 weeks in Nepal where I trekked for a month in the Himalayas with a Nepalese guide Nishan.

Around 500km trekking, 16,000m UP and 13,000m DOWN including trekking at 5,500m

Many high passes including Renjo La and Cho La. Climbed Gokyo Ri, crossed Ngozumpa Glacier, visited Everest Base Camp and Imja Tse

I followed the 1953 route of Sir Edmund Hillary/Tenzing Norgay which starts at Jiri

I am 71yo and trekked the entire way wearing ArmaSkin socks. No feet problems at all. Highly recommend ArmaSkin."

As a current Bordertown Rotary Club President Jeff used his trek to raise funds for some charities.

"One of my fundraisers is for medical assistance to a remote village, Bhakanje in Nepal. I am hoping to find this village and visit there during my trek.   We will be very thankful for any donations to either of the 3 fundraisers being Mental Health Research, Patient Transfer Facility in Bordertown or TeamMED for Bhakanje."  Here's a Facebook link if you'd like to applaud Jeff with a donation  Weasel's Everest Trek Fundraising

ArmaSkin for extremes  (Australia)

soldier on mars

"I just completed a Special Forces selection program which involved the 7 most brutal days of my life.

Not only physically demanding but also mental. The selection process involved ridiculously long treks, carrying approximately 40kgs of weight through all terrain and weather conditions. We had to run, climb, crawl and exercise for hours on end with near no sleep for the 7 full days.

This course was demanding on all aspects of the body and injuries and blisters were a common occurrence. In conditions like this, relatively minor things like blisters can turn into serious annoyances on courses like this. But luckily I had decided to purchase two pairs of your product and had them as my secret weapon. I wore them back to back for the first four days, changing when possible and trying to alternate them to keep them dry.

We were constantly drenched in mud, sweat, rain and every other ungodly thing you can think of. However thanks to those socks and the quick drying I managed to keep swapping them out for almost the entire course. The final day I didn't wear them due to a swim scenario and straight into a intense pack March and combat scenario. And as expected I ended up with epic blisters all over my feet. This nuisance could have been all week like the other operators had, however thanks to your product, I survived most of the course without my feet having any issues!

I cannot thank you enough for your product. Without it my feet would have been blistered straight off the bat and it would have made my 'hell week' 10 times harder! You've gained a loyal customer in me."

(for anonymity reasons no actual picture or name is published here.  BUT for fun we've included a constructed pic. If you are the first to tell us the location of this sunset you WIN a pair of ArmaSkin. Email ian@armaskin.com with your answer)

Teaming up on Mount San Antonio (USA)

Hikers on Mount

What better way than a mountain hike to catch up with friends.  Here are Kimberly and Erick.

Kimberly, "Enjoyed a rad hike this past weekend with this amazing soul @dogfoot_trailing for an annual fundraising hike up Mount San Antonio benefiting the Heroes Project.

My good friend, and veteran of the United States Navy, just finished a long and rough journey on the PCT.

Earlier this year we connected over backpacking meals, gear talk and @armaskin_protection the greatest anti-blister liner socks on the planet!"

Kimberly, who leads Wanderin 2 Wellness inspires many to hiking via her great tips and blogs

"When I’m outdoors soaking up Earth’s beauty, I see it as if she has painted a beautiful picture for me to see and for that I am thankful. So here is what I want to share with the world. Hiking in nature brings mindfulness and clarity when we need it the most. It is a way to get reacquainted with our personal passions. It allows inspiration to pour in. Hiking brings healing to the soul."  You can see more of Kimberly at https://wanderin2wellness.com/
